SXSW Wrap-Up
We made it back from the sxsw mini-tour all in one piece- 12 shows in
8 days and then a little show over at Beat Kitchen last week with
Retribution Gospel Choir. We met Alan after our set - he said really
nice things about our "guitar tone" and Dino's jacket. It was a great
time.
Thanks to all that came out to the shows the past couple of weeks -
super fun finally meeting some of you that we've been in contact with
over the past few months or so.
"Edie Sees" and "The Sheet" were featured in a couple blogs over the weekend..give 'em a click for the full story & free track downloads.

Apteka featured in the Chicago Reader
Here's the full text for those of you outside of the 773:
"These locals have developed a pretty darn solid take on early-90s shoegazer Britpop, considering they played their first show in December. They're unsigned and haven't formally released anything yet, but "The Sheet" was recently plucked from among their promising demos for volume 27 of the Future Sounds compilation series curated by the clothing company (and erstwhile record label) Tankfarm. With its chiming guitar, churning rhythms, expansive atmospherics, and keening, melodic vocals, the song presses the same buttons as classic Ride. I expect good things from this band, and soon." -J. Niimi

"The Sheet" featured on "Said the Gramophone"
The folks at Said the Gramophone were kind enough to feature our song "The Sheet" on their wonderful blog. Here's what they had to say about it:
"If The Clientele were a punk band: people prone to fistfights with their brothers, with flicking light-switches til they break. If snowstorms shed sparks or cicadas caught fire. If you longed so much for something that you could never sleep again. Or if all your friends started playing electric guitars at once."

"The Sheet" featured on Future Sounds 27
The demo for our song "The Sheet" was selected to be on the Future Sounds 27 compilation. It's out now and features other artists like The Wombats, David Vandervelde, Sonicflyer, New Violators, The Hundred Days, and The Blakes. If you need help finding one, email this guy and he'll show you the love.

We sincerely hope that you didn't think we'd keep you waiting too long. New tunes have been added to the existing repertoire, and need to be road tested. New shows on the live page, inicluding our premier engagement outside of the familiar confines of the midwest. Give it a click...
April 12 , 2007
After playing up down and all around the midwest chasing
winter's tail, we're currently recording mucho mucho just for you. A few minutes of the new will be revealed in the soon to be now.
Details here when we've got 'em. Apteka does, in fact, love you. Stay tuned...

Thanks to everyone who came out to our show last night at the Metro in Chicago. For those of you who missed out? Well, we'd normally have terrible things to say about you behind your backs to all of your best friends, but not this time. We'll be taking the hometown stage again on February 27th at Schubas with the ex-VHS or Beta rockers People Noise. It's their first trip up to Chicago, and is not an evening you'll want to miss...
January 10, 2007
Our upcoming show over at the Metro in Chicago is FREE before 9pm if you print yourself out one of these comp tickets. That'll leave you with scratch in your pocket for one more beer than you thought you'd be able to afford. Tip your bartenders accordingly.

Happy New Year, lovelies. We'll be ringing it in over the next few weeks by adding new shows to the LIVE page, so check it out.
December 10 , 2006
We decided that our first show ever probably warrants a new post in the news. So, to save you lovely people the trouble of clicking on the "LIVE" link on the left side of this page, here goes:
The premier outing of THE APTEKA ROCK & ROLL EXPERIENCE is taking place this Thursday at Subterranean in Chicago. Awesome Gary and Star start the evening at 9 sharp, after which the four of us will take the stage...that is, if we manage to fit all of our bodies and our gear onto it. Don't worry about payday on Friday, 'cause a mere five clams will admit you to the event. That's right, event. Bring the ruckus.

Welcome to the first incarnation of Apteka's home on the interweb. This site will be the main repository for all information regarding the band, including new releases, upcoming gigs, and Peter Tonewood's ongoing list of questionable sexual conquests.
